Cyn Tremeau's new album EPIC DEPARTURE documents her "breakup" with the US in search of a life of meaning abroad. It's an eclectic musical of rock pop nostalgia and storytelling that reflects the discomfort and loss of the American dream. Like a musical it begins with feeling under threat, then moves to being tired of the mistreatment, anger from dehumanization, grief stricken over what might have been, but also accepting of the loss. The second half is more emboldened, and excited. She finds comedy in the uncertainty, and she is honest in sharing her own personal doubts of surviving and thriving unless she changes from within. Cyn's writing and choice of sonic treatments show both her breath of her musical influences, as well as her IDGAF attitude, which apparently one needs in order to sell everything they own and give themselves permission to leave a place that no longer serves them.
